Pam Carleton Burke ’70
Dear BC Front Line Workers,
Saying thank you while heartfelt does not begin to capture my deep pride, gratitude, and awe for your compassion and courage as caregivers during this Covid-19 pandemic. Day in and day out you bear witness to people struggling to breath, fighting to survive, and coping with isolation from their families and friends. You are a lifeline to recovery and a consoler in the hour of death. The personal toll that it takes to do your job is unimaginable and still you show up, at the ready, armed with knowledge, skills, and a commitment to delivering high quality and compassionate care. Your family and friends also deserve our sincere thanks as their love and support sustain you during this challenging time. I pray that you take the time for self care because even though you are heroes among us, you need (and deserve) sustenance for your mind, body and soul. Godspeed as you continue to exemplify the Jesuit mission of service to others and respect for the dignity of each of your patients. Although no longer working on the front line, I stand with you in spirit and hope for a safe and healthy tomorrow!
With my profound gratitude,
Pam Carleton Burke, BC 1970 (BC CSON); 1990 (PhD SED)
